Default What would you do?

with a nice tax return from which I will spend $ 2000 Can.Dollars on gear!

I have a Nikon D80; Nikon AF 50mm Nikkor F/1.8D, Nikon AF-S 70-300mm VR Zoom-Nikkor F/4.5-5.6G ED-IF and a Nikon AF-S 18-70mm DX Zoom-Nikkor F/3.5-4.5G IF-ED. Also have SB600, battery grip and a remote ML-L3

Am going into (still learning and being 2nd shooter) Wedding Photography.

What would you invest in?

I believe right now the Canadian price for a D700 is lower than B&H. This could make your dream comes true!

what would I do? Upgrade the 70-300mm to the 70-200mm f/2.8

According to photoprice.ca, the 70-200mm goes for about 2400CAD. Sell the 70-300 and get that one. It'll help you out with the whole wedding thing (fixed aperture), and it'll outlast any body you buy.

...the 24-70 f/2.8 would be a good investment

So you both recommend this lens first, then the 24-70mm f/2.8? My widest angle is 18-70 mm DX f/3.5.
Also this 70-200mm is for small sensor (I have the D80 now) as well as for full-frame, if I decide to upgrade to a D700?

Both the 24-70, and the 70-200 will work well on both crop sensors, and full frames..can't go wrong with either

If you are going to get high end camera equipment - sooner may be better, or you`re going to probably have to wait till later

Well, I'd say get both the 24-70mm and the 70-200mm, but that's a wee bit out of your budget, isn't it? Going from there, I'd (personally) get the longer one first as I feel it'd help with the weddings more while using a cheaper prime (50mm for $100 or the 35mm for $200) for the wider stuff until I can afford the 24-70mm, but again, that's just me.

Totally makes sense, you're right. I might do that. I mean first get the 70-200mm. Wish to upgrade my D80 too but that has to wait.
