Default Is 294 Million actuations high?

Ok, joking aside, one of my D300 bodies is reporting 294 million shutter releases in flickr, opanda and every other exif reader I have tried..... obviously it is reporting that, but since the camera still works, I don't think that is the case. Anyone come across this and how did you resolve it. Not a big deal, but would not mind it being acurate.

Shoot much?

That's a lot. I think my camera would go on strike or demand a vacation in a dark room if I had that many on mine hehe.

On a side note, I have no idea how to fix it. Has your camera been sneaking out of the bag at night to take pictures? Maybe it has a g/f camera down the street?

That's a lot of sneaking around. You'd have to be firing about 2 frames a second, every second, since the day that puppy was released in order to get it up to 294 million actuations. No telling how much it would have to be shooting if it was only shooting at night. You're camera must be living like Charlie Sheen when you're not looking.

Seriously though, I've never encountered that, but Nikon's official position is that the number in the EXIF data is not accurate. Apparently that number can be adjusted by nikon repair techs, so if it's ever even been cleaned, there's a chance it won't be accurate anyway.

A firmware update fixed the issue..... sometimes I don't see the tree for the forest.

I don't know, add 3 decent photos for that 294 million shutter releases and you've described my last year.

My D80 used to report less than 5k, even when I had well over 10x that.
