I currently have a AF 70-300 and a AF 28-80, which I used with my N80. I am moving to the digital age and would like to purchase a D7000, use these lenses for a while and purchase a nice wide angle zoom lens in the future. Or should I wait get a D5100 and start all over with lenses. Your advice is much appreciated.

Without getting into specifics I will say that camera bodies are really just another type of consumer electronics and come and go as quickly as computers, phones, or TVs. The D7000 may be at/near the top of the heap today but by the time you have used your old lenses for "awhile" something even better will have come along. Unlike film camera bodies which seemed to last a user for years and sometimes decades, digital bodies typically have a shorter shelf life. Lenses are where it's at for buying something that will last a long time.
