Default upgrading from d3000?

Right now I have a nikon d3000. I feel that it's time to upgrade...I've outgrown my entry level camera. I am a teacher but do photography on the side.... eventually I'd like to do photography full time. I shoot families, couples, children and will be doing tons of weddings this summer.

What body would you suggest upgrading to? I'm young...I'm planning for my own wedding and paying off students loans etc.... so funds are limited. I'd like to spend max 3,000 on lenses and body.

The 'standard' wedding lenses are the 24-70mm and 70-200mm (f/2.8 all around). Those alone run about $3500.
