Exclamation D3100 promaster 5600 help

Just got a d3100 and picked up a promaster 5600 flash unit for $15 and without thinking tossed it on and used it. seemed to work fine but im worried about the volts. Anyone know if its safe to use on my d3100? thanks.

No clue, but you could measure the voltage across the pins with a multimeter

will have to see if I can find someone who owns such a thing, besides that can anyone tell me from basic knowledge of cameras? Again, I'm new to photography and am pretty alone when it comes to the hobby. http://www.promaster.com/Instruction...onic_Flash.pdf is the flash manual perhaps someone not as ignorant as myself can see if that will be ok on a Nikon D3100. Thanks for any help.

Call around to a local college or university. Any physics or engineering program worth a hundredth of its weight in feathers should have a good many.

According to "http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html", all the Promaster 5xxx (5600 not listed) flashes are safe.
