Default Fish eye question.

Is there a fish eye lens for a cropped sensor (D90-300s, etc) that will not black out the edges? Or, is this only possible with full frame sensors?

Thanks
Dave

The Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8, the Sigma 10mm f/2.8, and the Samyang/Rokinon/Vivitar etc. 6.5/7/8mm fisheye (really they're all the same lens) are all diagonal fisheyes for crop sensor and will completely fill the frame, as will any FX diagonal fisheye.

It's the FX circular fisheyes that will cause you the black corners.

Inkista said it.

Diagonal fisheyes will fill the frame, circular fisheyes will give you a circle. The 10.5mm from Nikon will give you on a cropped sensor body what the 16mm will give you on a FX/35mm body.

Weird sidenote, if you get a Sigma 8mm circular fisheye (designed for fullframe) and use it on a crop body, the vignetting's actually not that bad (certainly usable with cropping or content-aware fill).

Canon XT. Sigma 8mm f/3.5 EX DG Circular Fisheye.

And, if you're a nut, like me, you can also put a 1.4x teleconverter on it, just to see what happens. At which point, you get an 11.2mm diagonal fisheye out of the deal. That's kinda soft and smeary 'round the edges.

Canon XT. Sigma 8mm f/3.5 EX DG Circular Fisheye + Kenko 1.4x teleconverter

The first time I used my 5D Mark II, I was kind of disappointed in not "feeling" the wide, and I was thinking in anticipation of getting it I'd overhyped how much wider the feel was going to be. Until I put my Sigma 8mm on it, and saw the image circle in all its glory for the first time evah. That's when I knew just how much bigger a full-frame sensor is.

Canon 5D Mark II. Sigma 8mm f/3.5 EX DG Circular Fisheye.

Now you're contradicting yourself. In this thread, you say that you only have one Nikon lens (the 70-200) and two Tamrons. So which is it?

All. The. Time. My hat brims appear in a lot of shots, too.
