hi iam getting my d7000 on friday i was wondering if this lens i found on ebay will be ok to use on my new camera

The thing with off-brand lenses (be they Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, etc) is that all the electronics and communication stuff is reverse-engineered for their lenses, instead of designed for and by the OEM. It is possible, and there have been issues in the past with certain things, but thats generally for off-brand lenses that are 10-15+ years old on the new bodies. I'd expect anything new and current to be problem free.

well i took the plunge and bought a new one from warehouse express, i have had no issues whats so ever with the sigma on my d7000,just getting to grips with it,been wind and rain here in scotland but today i got out for a few shots and iam very impressed with camera and lens i got the hsm so i can use it on my d3000,thanks for the help guys

You should love the D7000 as much as I do mine. I also have a D90 I am proud of.
I have a tamron 17-50mm F2.8 VRII that is great for landscapes and group shots if you do portraits Also a tamron 60mm F2 with macro I will be using as a portrait lens but has no VR nikor 70-200mm F2.8 VRII great lense but expensive. |
