Default Shutter Limit and Continuous mode / timelapse

Hi Everyone,

I've recently (about half a year) started getting deeper into photography (as a personal hobby), and got myself a D90. It's been an incredible pleasure working with it, and I absolutely love everything that comes with it, the goods and the bads

I've read a bunch of articles, faqs, posts, forums etc about dslrs lately, and learned things, like the shutter limit on cameras.. What I'm wondering / worried about is.. If I want to make a timelapse, it means I'll have to take hundreds oh photos at the very least.. most likely over a thousand... This immediately means I've shaped off 1/50th of my shutter life (assuming the shutter life is 50k..

That thought is actually VERY scary.. and worrying.. This means the camera is a lot easier to break, even by just making photos... And you can literally get over this limit in months, if you make a number of timelapses / busy photo days..

Am I right in my assumptions, or am I wrong, and just worrying too much here?

Thanks in advace,
Artiom

On a D90 the life is 100k..
On my D3 it is 300k..

But that doesn't mean it will die when it hits that number.
What's more worrying to me is having to sort/edit 1k+ images per shoot.

For a timelapse, it's usually done with a batch processing. Especially if you're doing RAW.

artiomchi: Don't worry too much about the camera's expected shutter life. Assuming it isn't abused, you'll be okay.

Artiom, the 100k is a "rating", not a life span. My strategy is to wear my camera out, and I am a failure. Over twenty Nikons over 40 years, and I have yet to replace a shutter even one time. My old Nikkormat FTN is still snapping away.
Use the camera!........

That life expectation is the same with all things. People live to be X age, cars only last XXXk miles. We've all heard these things and we all know if we keep ourselves and our cars in good shape, we can almost last forever.

Also remember, that shutter life, means literally the shutter. Which means if it breaks, you get a new shutter; not whole new camera. (....which...may cost that much, but ya know what I mean)
