Dear Friends
I again need your opinion and advice. I want to buy a tele zoom lens for wildlife photography but i am on budget. PLease suggest which is good as per performance and build make 55-200mm or 55-300mm Nikkor. I can afford any one of these lens. I know that these are a slow len ie: f/4-5.6 but for my budget this will do. I just own a 18-55mm kit lens. MY idea of buying a tele zoom is for wildlife, sports and street photography. Thanks ROhan

Don't know what your budget is but I LOVE my Nikon 28-300 VR.

@Almond.butterscotch : Thnanks for the input
55-300mm has also got VR. And if i have to opt for 70-300,, then i will have to wait for 2-3 months more to purchase it.so you recommend 70-300mm ?? SO 70-300mm will be compatible on DX & FX Bodies, right !! @Kirbinster : 28-300mm will be very costly for me. but this will serve to many purpose.

Good correction; my quick google search didn't bring the VR into the titles... hah.
And yes, that's one of the other advantages to the 70-300mm if you're considering going FX at some point. Both it and the 28-300mm will cover FX. |

Thanks Almond, i will wait for a couple of month and save money for 70-300mm. In the mean time i will buy 35mm f/1.8.

I did a lot of wildlife with a sigma 50-500 on a crop body....I still have it. IMHO, if you are not at least 400mm effective, it's too short. I'd say 500mm is minimally effective and I use 600-800mm the majority of the time. (sometimes longer w/ TC's)
