Default Sometimes I miss having an auto setting

I have a Nikon D200 that I LOVE! But sometimes, I really miss having an auto setting. I only shoot manual myself, but I would like to be able to hand someone my camera sometimes, and have them take a quick snapshot of my family without having to program the settings first. And actually, I would like, at times, to be able to take a quick snapshot of my kids without worrying about all the settings. I know that must sound silly.

I'm wondering if I should buy a different camera. I know it sounds silly, but I don't want to buy a little p&s to take along with me. I want it all in one camera. I am thinking about a D90. I would miss having the ability to change my metering, ISO, and WB without having to flip through menus.

I should add that I am a natural light portrait photographer. I mostly do family and children's photography.

Thanks for any input!

Just ignore this thread. I was having a sleep-deprived moment, and posted without my thoughts together.

The D90 has both. All the manual settings, Auto settings and also scene selection such as landscape, portrait, etc.

The D200 category is targeting a market assuming people will not use automatic features. Instead, they engineered the body better. Most of the setting can be access straight on the body instead of menus.

I bought the D200 when I started taking photos professionally. I still love it; it's a great camera! Sometimes I just want an easy button, lol.

Isn't the P mode auto enough?

Exactly. Since it does not have to be in manual, why won't "A" or "S" work fine when you hand someone the camera????

I was just having a sleep-deprived moment, I guess. I am so used to shooting only in manual that I kinda forgot the P mode was there. I promise I'm not always so ditzy, lol.

Please ignore this thread.
