After four years of Nikon D80, I consider a D700 for image quality, low light performance and going into more professional photography, like fashion and weddings.
With the new D7000 and its 16 mpx, ISO performance it makes me think over. I do have one DX lens and two others (70-300 VR and Nikkor AF 50 mm 1.8) |

Depends on where your emphasis lies and if you're comfortable using off-camera flashes.

Going with the D700 is going to cost a ton more in every way. The D7000 will cost less and with the difference you can buy some really great lenses.
Other than the obvious I just stated I am not qualified to say any more. Both are drool worthy cameras.

hmmm....
don't overook the D300s D7000/D300s, get a used sigma/tamron f/2.8 medium Telephoto (like 24-70); and an SB600/700/800/900 depending on how much you have left over. OR D7000/D300s and a Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8 Dx seeing as you haven't mentioned any wide angle capability.

I do have a SB600. Aaaah....just the choice of which camera body.....! |

Camera body makes a different at this stage: going FX means getting FX lenses, which means spending roughly 4x more on every single lens.

If I want a 85 mm F/1.4 lens what would i pay for a DX or a FX lens? LIke these two; AF-S Nikkor F/1.4G or AF Nikkor F1/1.4F which one do I need for which camera? or a 24-70 mm F/2.8 that I would like to get too, later on. |

If you compare the "general" lens and the generally accepted FX counterpart, then yes you're looking at quite the investment.
While the 70-300 is FX compatible, it's more expensive than, say, the 55-200. If you compare, then, to a 70-200 f2.8, another FX lens and the general standard for weddings, you're jumping up into the $2300 range. Same goes with midrange stuff: Even the 16-85 gets its price doubled (for the 24-120 VR). The 17-55 f/2.8 price doubles (in the case of the 24-70 f/2.8), and while the 50mm f/1.8D is FX compatible, there's the crop factor to consider: if you're used to a 50mm lens on a crop sensor, you'll want a 85mm lens on FX, which means quadruple the price. There are exceptions, which i suppose is your bone of contention with my post in which I say "every single lens". As a general rule though, youre looking anywhere from 2-4x for most lenses.

The D300 and D7000 are quite comparable; of course one has more focus point, one has more pixels, it all depends what you need to do. For now I think I lean more towards a D300 but I give it a bit more time. |

So to make it short, i have a fashion photography session coming up and have
50mm F1/8 18-70 mm F/4.5 DX 70-300 mm F/4 VR with a D80 and SB600 What is everyones opinion for what I would need first (its studio and outdoors)? |
