So I will be getting a new Nikon body soon!
I originally felt the d5000 was the camera for me but then found out it was discontinued last month. However I found that adorama.com sells the d5000 body refurbished through Nikon for $485. Should I go for this deal even if it is refurbished? Nikon only gives a 90 day warranty which is a letdown. Has anyone ever bought a refurbished Nikon before? |

Ooo. You put Adorama in your post. Helen Oster should be along any minute, now....
Had you asked about B&H it would've been 50/50 if Henry Posner was gonna show.

I've bought refurbs, and I've bought from Adorama (but not a refurb from Adorama)...
Here's how I see refurbs: Someone bought a brand new item for top dollar and it had an issue that made it past OEM quality control. It was sent back and corrected. For less money you get an item that was field tested and specifically tuned.

A refurb may also be an ex-store demo, possibly used in field tests or sales displays, or it may have been ordered in error and returned to the retailer (who can't then sell it as 'new' so it has to be sent back to the manufacturer for refurbishment).
