Default Nikon Lenses

Christmas is coming up in a few months and something that I really want more than ever is a good (or decent) macro lens, I was wondering if any of you who new more about good quality lenses than I do (I'm still learning) could suggest what would be a good one to get. I have a Nikon D40 DSLR. If you could help, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

the 85mm will be a good one, but if you think you may ever upgrade to FX, the 105mm is both longer and faster- better working room and shallow DoF, AND it covers full frame.

I have the Sigma 150 f/2.8 and I can recommend it.
Especially considering the price and reach.. (longer IS better in a macro)
and it's FX compatible.

I have the tamron 90mm 2.8, and it's a great lens. Also works on FX cameras just fine.

I'm sure there are other better lenses out there but they are also considerable more expensive.

Yeah, I'm looking for something fairly cheap, but also does a good job. Thanks, I'll take these into consideration.
