Default nikon d 5000
dear all... my nikon d5000 view thru the viewfinder live view is very dark compared to what i see with my naked eye...????

Do you have a battery in, a memory card and the lens cap removed?

The D5000 lights up the viewfinder only when the battery is in - it may also only light up with a memory card.

Having no SD card makes no difference, other than a flashing icon in the VF. It's either the battery, an aperture problem (try taking the lens off and putting it on again), or maybe a problem with the mirror.

... or it's the fact that the D5000, like most entry-level bodies, uses a pentamirror instead of a pentaprism and is, therefore, a darker viewfinder?
