Ergonomically, it's essentially the same as your D50: buttons are in the same place, controls are essentially the same.
The big thing, though, is the sensor. Completely different sensor, a full 3 generations newer. You'll be able to get bigger images (higher resolution) with less noise. You'll also get a faster FPS rate, a new world into video and menu improvements. It's a no brainer as far as im concerned.

The big things that were my deciding factors in upgrading from the D50 to the D90 were:
1. Second control dial on the front (no more holding down the button to change aperture in M mode) 2. Commander mode for the flash (didn't need extra stuff to make my flash work off camera) 3. Better High ISO... well, it goes way higher than 1600, what more can I say?

Something to consider is that the D90 replacement (rumored to be called the D7000) is supposed to be announced within a few weeks. September 15th I think.
This will give you 2 possibilities: 1. Get the new, latest, greatest (and not just superseded) model OR 2. Get a D90 at a discounted price as the new model starts arriving. I have a D90 and it is a fantastic camera and I have NO intention of updating, but I just wanted to let you know of the above possibilities before you make your decision. Cheers! Drofemoc |

I'm hoping there will be a subsequent price drop in the D90 when the new is released.
