Default Nikon software won't work

Has anyone had this problem? When I try to transfer photos from the camera to pc the Nikon transfer program (using the one that came with camera) won't work. Could I have changed a setting on the camera that is causing this? Recently changed some things. I will try reloading the software to see if that fixes it. Very frustrating to have to remove the card to load anything new. Any ideas? thank you.

Need more info really - did it work previously? Is it the first time you've used it? Does the camera show up if you go to the standard Windows Camera and Scanner interface (Control Panel)? Have you installed other software on your computer recently?

I think it's more likely something on the computer than the camera, there's a lot more stuff to change there.

Quite possibly. Go into the menu under the Tool section(looks like a wrench). Then scroll down to "USB". On my D80 I have 2 choices, MSC(Mass Storage) or MTP/PTP. I have mine set to MSC.

Can you confirm whether you are using a Mac or PC - on a PC, you may be referring to what happens automagically when you plug your camera in - what do you mean by 'it doesn't work'?
