Default Nikon D3000 a Thing of the Past?

Just read on the Nikon rumour website that they are releasing the D3100. You can read about it here.

If you're using a D3000 and making good photos... then it's not really a thing of the past! :P

Why bother with rumors? The release announcements are all happening in the next few weeks. Just waiting for actual facts tends to be simpler and better than rumor chasing.

Frankly, I can't imagine a more unproductive pastime than considering rumours about computers, electronics or cameras. A camera model is being replaced with a new one? That's about as surprising/interesting as a rumour that the sun will rise tomorrow morning.

@Sterling- People who are currently debating buying a D3000 may find it valuable so it is worthwhile information. It was published in a magazine in Germany, so I would call that more than a rumour.

The current news on NR is a scan from a german magazine confirming specs for the Nikon announcement ahead of time. How that deals with a (im assuming) NDA is beyond me, but hey. It confirms a lot of suspicions people had before release.

Oh, I know the appeal. Images of the rumored Canon 60D flip-out screen (which most would assume confirms video capability) have been similarly showing up everywhere. But I'd still just rather wait a week or two to get the full story than spend all that time in speculation and rumormongering on what will or won't appear.

Ah, but these are confirmed for Photokina (the magazine released the issue early).

I'm comfortable with it in my hands, and I like the pictures it takes. If it becomes obsolete I will still feel comfortable, and like the pictures it takes. (or The pictures I take with it, rather)
