I have a D40 and debating whether to buy the 50mm f1.4 or the 35mm f1.8. I want to use this lense mostly for indoor infant photography. What do you suggest?
Does anyone have any indoor infant photos photographed with a 35mm? |

as for indoor infant photography with the 35, this is all I have:

on APS-C cameras
50mm = around a 85mm equivalent 35mm = around a 50mm equivalent Not exact but close Go with the 35mm

Actually the newer 50mm f/1.4 is AF-S, so you'd be OK. But on the D40, I'd highly recommend the 35mm also. It's fast, and wide enough to be useful. I own it and love it!

As dcclark mentioned, the latest one IS in fact AF-S.
