i'll get the obvious question out of the way first...you're shooting in manual mode? manual shutter and selecting the fstop off the lens? Also older mounts will not meter so you will have to manually calculate your exposure using a separate meter or the sunny 16 rule.

What is the full lens code?
What mode were you shooting in? What were the conditions you were shooting in (location, light, etc)? What were your settings? Can we see an example?

Thanks for the reply guys, guess I put a little of information about my problem, additional info about this problem;
What is the full lens code? Lense Details: LD Di TAMRON AF 70-300mm Manual Lense 1:4-5.6 Tele-macro (1:2) 62 A17 What mode were you shooting in? >> I'm shooting at the Manual Mode (M) What were the conditions you were shooting in (location, light, etc)? >> I tried to shoot in different conditions and in different lighting exposures (in an open places, close areas). I also tried shooting under the bright sunlight and also during the night where the amount of light is sufficient (as far as I am concern). And during these different conditions, I tried to play and changed settings of my camera (ISO, Whitebalance, Flash Compensation, etc). Sometimes I am satisfied with the outcome but most of the time I am disappointed (most of the time it's dark even during the day) ![]() What were your settings? >> My settings will vary on the conditions and amount of light in my location. I often change my ISO Speed settings and Whitebalance to compensate with the light in the area. Can we see an example? Please see the sample shots taken using TAMRON 70-300mm manual lense. http://i26.tinypic.com/169kxdx.jpg Mode: Manual Focal Length: 0mm F-Number : F/0 ISO Speed : ISO-600 Exposure Time : 1/80 sec Exposure Compensation : +0.3 step Taken in a broad sunlight http://i31.tinypic.com/288j2v.jpg Mode: Manual Focal Length: 0mm F-Number : F/0 ISO Speed : ISO-400 Exposure Time : 1/80 sec Exposure Compensation : +0.3 step http://i32.tinypic.com/suu87r.jpg Mode: Manual Focal Length: 0mm F-Number : F/0 ISO Speed : ISO-400 Exposure Time : 1/80 sec Exposure Compensation : +0.3 step Taken in a broad sunlight Thanks again guys Last edited by lputman; 07-28-2010 at 08:36 PM. Send the lens back
It's reading as f/0, which is impossible. For some reason it isn't connecting to the camera.

I don't think you need to send it back just yet.
The EXIF reads f/0 if you use a lens that doesn't talk to the camera (non CPU in technical terms I think). You have to adjust the aperture using the aperture ring, the camera can't do it for you. Try opening up the aperture as wide as you can, twist the aperture ring so that the dot lines up with the smallest number (largest aperture) to let plenty of light in, then try different shutter speeds and see what happens. If it still doesn't give you a good picture at all, then maybe it is time for it to go back. |

You can tell if the lens has a CPU by looking for the electronic contacts on the mount. They look like a row of five to eight gold buttons - they are at the top of the inner part of the mount in this photo:
Google Image Result for http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/nikkoresources/AFNikkor/AF28105mm/AF28105mmD_D.jpg If the lens has those contacts then there is something wrong with it.
