Default problem with D5000 after taking long exposure picture

Hello,

I recently bought a D5000 and what i've noticed that when i take long exposure picture (let's say longer that 5 secs) my camera takes a picture but after that it stops responding and i need to turn it of and on to get it working again. Maybe anyone knows something about this problem ore should i give it in for varanty service?

Sounds like it may be taking a noise-reduction "dark frame". For a long enough exposure (something like 1 second or longer), the camera takes a second exposure after it's taken the first one. The second one is done with the shutter closed, and its purpose is to find noise or "hot spots", which the camera then subtracts from the real image. The second exposure will be exactly as long as the first -- so if you took a 30 second exposure, you'll actually have to wait 1 minute in total.

You can turn this off in the menus.

actualy if i wait a bit more after the exposure is done camera starts to work as usual and in viewfinder i can see soemthing written similar to --- job nr ---- just after shutter is closed what that means?

The camera is saying that it's running a Noise Reduction frame.
