Default Nikon 50mm 1.8D verses none D
Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between the Nikon 50mm 1.8D AF lens and the Nikon 50mm 1.8 AF lens. I want to add a 50mm to my Nikon gear, and have the chance to buy either one or the other..... just have no idea what the difference is besides price.

I am shooting on two older Nikons, a D1H and a D100.

THe D version has the contact to talk to the camera, giving it distance information for flash control.

Seriously, the D version is so cheap its hard to justify going any cheaper.

Any non-D lens you find will be used, and at least 10 years old.
