Hi All
I have had my first DLSR a D60 for about a year now. Really enjoy having the flexibility a DLSR brings however I think I should have splashed out for something better. The D60 is a great camera, there is little to fault apart from the speed of the thing. Waiting to review shots on the LCD takes 3-4 seconds (ok much better than film I know ) and if I shoot 3 shots on burst mode it takes an age to process the images and be ready for the next shot. When shooting anything quicker than a snail this is really annoying ! Having used a 450D/D70 & D700 I have seen the light and will probably swap it however I am not too keen to do so just yet as the replacement would probably be a D90/D300. If a new version of either is on the horizon in the next year or so then I could wait. I am trying to decide on either: -Buy a faster SD card (currently 15mb/s sandisk) -Sell it now while it is fairly new and buy something better. Any ideas ? |

A faster card may help, but chances are you're looking at something a bit higher up in the range. If it's any consolation, the D90 is set to be replaced at the end of the summer, so you may not have to wait for very long.

Nice try: D60 doesn't have that feature.

Something's very strange! Tell us something about your shooting modes: RAW? RAW+JPEG? Do you have any special settings for the "picture style" (saturation, etc.)?

Thanks for the advice, just turned off D-Lighting and it is much better. Before I could do 3 shots in succession then it would give up and go away and think for a bit. Now continuous shooting works a treat and reviewing the image is almost instant.
I normally shoot in RAW only, if I drop down to JPEG then it runs a little quicker. Predictably RAW + basic JPG is the slowest however all are much faster with D-lighting off. Given I edit in RAW on lightroom am I going to loose anything by turning it off ? |

I don't use D-lighting, but you probably could get similar results with lightroom.
