Default returned my cam and got a new one (hmmmmmm)

ok.........

so i returned the canon sx120 i bought last week b/c i was just not please with the image quality. the nikon l110 was on sale last night (i'm an impulse buyer and it was in my budget range) so i jumped on it. so far the pic quality is great but i have found 2 drawbacks....no full manual controls and it struggles a bit in low light. the lack of manual controls is not a huge deal as it will force me to play with different auto settings to get what i want. the low light thing is a bit annoying but may be workable if i try hard enough. the auto modes shoot great images. if anyone has owned one and has any tips to squeeze out every inch of its capabilities i would greatly appreciate. keep in mind i am a beginner so this new bridge camera is ideal for me. it seems it will be a great learning experience. thanks in advance for any input you guys can offer.

I bought last year version to my ex-wife last summer. You nailed the downside, no manual controls. You have to work with the scenes mode and know what they do to ISO/Shutter/Aperture to have some kind of "control" over your camera. But it's a nice device for the price and the zoom is interesting. You can acheive nice results, without to much thinking, but stabilization will be the key.

One thing I realized, every shot I made with the zoom extended was better when I was stabilizing the camera (bean bag, table tripod, etc.). There is less light that comes in these lens than SLR lens and the sensor is also smaller. The picture will look grainy because the ISO is too high (we call it noise) or even blurry because the shutter is not high enough so more light can get through.

Apart from that, keep playing with it. You'll get to know the device and you can have plenty of fun with this little puppy
