Default Nikon D80 r06 message

I am looking for some advice here, the last couple of weeks when pressing the shutter button halfway down I get a message in the shots available window that says R06. Now I know that this is not an error message, its telling me that I have 6 shots left in the cameras memory buffer (?), I changed from RAW format to JPEG FINE and the message changes from R06 to R09.

I have tried taking the batteries out and then the card etc but to no avail, any help would be appreciated.

Cheers in advance.

I see those RXX messages very often, I've never regarded it as a problem as I don't do a lot of action sequences. In fact I just looked and my D90 is saying R07 (shooting RAW + Fine). I'll be interested to see what others who are more expert than I am have to say.

That's exactly what it means: 6 shots remaining in the buffer. WHen you change back to JPG fine the number goes up because JPGs are smaller and therefore faster to transfer.

It's fine.

Yes, but why all of a sudden I get these messages???? As I said, only started a couple of weeks ago.

Thanx for the feedback anyway, hopefully there is a solution, probably resetting the camera settings back to factory perhaps? Something I have not tried yet.

I don't know what the upper limit of the "XX" in the "RXX" is, but did you perhaps change the format from something that uses less memory (re.g., regular JPEG) to fine JPEG? What do you see if you use regular JPEG?

hey- i just realized that the D40 has a buffer of up to 60 shots (JPEG/Basic/Small)- not that'll ever be useful. 4 in RAW and 3 in JPEG+RAW- not as awesome, but neat to know
