I have a Canon Zoom Lens EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 III 1.5m/4.9ft
Will it fit/work with a Nikon D5000? I'm really a newbie but like taking photos. Wanting to upgrade from my point and shoot camera and I'm on the verge of purchasing a Nikon D5000. Any information/advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you! |

So I googled it and found that I can not use the Canon lens on the Nikon.
Now my question is, should I still purchase the Nikon D5000 or should I get a Canon DSLR? I see that Canon rated higher on this site, but I have also been seeing sites that talk favorably towards the Nikon............what to do??? |

Sort of like saying what is better a Ford or a Chevy - ask 10 people and you'll get 12 opinions
Both Canon and Nikon have great equipment, it really comes down to what you like better in terms of hand feel, controls, and features. Go to the store and try a few and see what floats your boat. I would not make the decision based on one lens that you happen to have. Remember than once you do down the path there usually is little chance to change to the other path without significant costs -- so think it out and plan before you jump in.

Yes, I think after further comparing, I am going to go with the D5000.
I just wanted to do a little more research before I hit the "submit order" button ![]() Thanks again and hopefully I'll be posting some good shots soon! |

The D5000 is a great camera, I find it just as good as my D300 just with fewer controls and other features - but the picture quality is great.
