Hi!
I need to buy a new lens because I have sold my old 18-55mm. so I need someone who can replace this Focal Length area. I was very happy with his Nikon 18-55mm, so I'm looking for something that looks a bit like it. I've been interested in these. Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f2.8 XR Di II VC LD Asph. Tokina 16-50mm f2.8 Nikon 17-55mm f2.8 Sunday, May 9, my brother have the confirmation, so it is a family company, so I have a need for a license that is wider than what I have now. until now I have Nikon d300s Nikon 50mm f1, 8 tamron 90mm f2.8 sigma 70-300mm 3.4 to 5.6 is Nikon's 17-55mm worth the price? what are their differences? what do you recommend me to go for? it is wise to have VC on these lenses? |

The 17-55 is pretty good for what it is, but the Tamron is probably a better value.

Maybe broaden your search and throw in a fourth manufacturer. Check out the new SIGMA 17-70mm f/2.8-4 OS Macro zoom. Very sharp lens with wider apertures than the kit lens. You would have the range from 17mm all the way up to your 70-300's starting point.
This is a really sharp lens. B&H has them for about $450 with free shipping
