I agree, the D300 + 24-70 is a fantastic combination!

The D300s isn't really an upgrade. It's more of an update. Just adds video and a few minor tweaks. The D700 would be a true upgrade.
Just remember that your 18-200 won't work on the D700, so you'll be looking to get the new 70-200 f/2.8 next.

Why do you "NEED" to upgrade the body? The D300 (300's) is the top of the line non-full frame body. The only step "up" is full frame - but do you need that? What will it do for you that the D300 won't? You have to keep in mind that if you go full frame your lenses will behave differently in terms of effective focal length, and DX lenses won't work fully.

D3s or D700. I have a D3 and a D300 (spare while backup is a 5D Mk II).

I agree with kirbinster and Osmosis's question: why do you "NEED" an upgrade?
The only things higher up than the D300/s: D3 (summat outdated), D3x (lots of megapixels), D3s (ISO 100000), and the D700 (crown jewel?) |
