![]() I've just joined the Nikon Club (upgrading from an FZ50) I'll be spending most of my night reading the Manual anyway I was just wondering if the "Nikon Af 70-300/4.0-5.6 G" Lens, would be able to Autofocus with the camera Thanks

Yes to your question.
My first digital was the D200 - still have it as my backup. Moved up to the D700. But, I loved my D200 - it's a wonderful camera and some argue that it has better metering than the D700 and I think I agree. The main reason I got the D700 was high iso noise - and it's a dream - because I need it. Now, i'm just trying to ignore the D3s

Any and every lens labeled AF-S or AF (or by extension, anything that says AF) will autofocus on your D200. While Ken Rockwell is an idiot, the one thing he's gotten right is lens compatibility: link
Specifically, anything that says AF will autofocus on the D200. Anything that has a chip in it (AI, AI-S, AI-converted) will meter. |

Thanks for the replies everyone
I'm really loving the camera, and I ordered the lens, thank you very much it's just what I've been wanting and way in my price range as opposed to the VR models ![]() I'm currently toying with the idea of getting a Nikkor 50mm/F1.8 D AF lens
