Hello,
Just picked up a used D200 on eBay, and I'm having a problem with the flash. Hoping to get some help figuring out what the problem is. The camera seems brand new, and only has about 2500 exposures on it. I hit the flash pop up button, set the flash to front curtain synch by holding down the flash button and rotating the dial. I tried it in A, S, P, and M modes and I can't make it flash. I tried different focusing combinations, etc. Anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong?? Thanks, Eric |

I had the same problem with my D40. Check this video: Nikon D40 Flash Fix on Vimeo
That may be your problem. Do note though: if you try this, do your best not to strip the screws. It becomes VERY difficult to get them out if they're stripped. |

it does not flash at all or it flashes but the image is under exposed like no flash went off? If the latter then it could be that you have the flash set to commander mode and not contributing any light to the exposure. If the former then you can send it in to be fixed if you want to spend the money.

Thanks Almond!! That did it. I actually took it apart and it did not appear to have the same mechanism as the D40 in the video, so I just poked around a bit and put it back together. When I did, it worked!! The switch that lets the camera know the flash is up must have gotten stuck somehow. Thanks again!!
