I'm considering the same lens for my D60. There is no AF/MF switch because there is no in-lens motor to control auto-focusing. The D60 does not have an in-body AF motor, so with non-AF-S lenses you will need to auto-focus.
I think there would be an adjustment period at first, but I suspect you (and hopefully I) will get used to this quickly. Unfortunately, Nikon does not make a 50mm lens in that price range that contains an in-lens AF motor (that I'm aware of). If you have $300 more to spend, go for the 50mm f/1.4. |

This is what I feared! Oops. Never mind, I'm sure I'll get used to it and it will force me out of my comfort zone I suppose!!!! Eek Still excited to have a new lens to add to my collection!
No, I can't afford the othet type anyway, does that have AF? I guess I'll have to eventually look at investing in a DSLR that doesn't have this limitation! |

I'm in the same boat with my D40X. But the saving grace is that if you need to use that lens chances are good you're in a low-light environment with long shutter speeds so you won't be taking quick focus action shots anyway. So focusing manually won't be too hard with practice.

You could instead, get the 35mm f/1.8 DX AF-S. It's wider, but will AF on your D60 and is still in the realm of cheap (~$200)
