Default Buying my second DSLR, need alot of advice!

Hey everyone.

I just sold my olympus e410 and I want to buy a nice dslr with a good lens.
I love portrait & macro. I never have been interested in lanscape, so i think its all i have to know what lens is best for me.

I have a very, very sucky budget. I can't go above 900 euro and I will be buying my gear from singapore (which is so much cheaper than buying in Europe).

I was thinking of the nikon d5000 and nikon d90. And a 50mm prime lens or 18-270 MACRO.

Any help/advice is welcome!

Heres my photostream. I don't have many photos, but I think you can see my skill and style.=]

Liza ( I assume) I'm not up to speed on the differences between the D90 and the D5000, although my inclination would be to go with the D90. As far as lens choice, yes, a fast 50 is nice, but somewhat limiting, and for portrait/macro work I would go with the 18-270. My wife is mainly a portrait photographer, and we own a 50 1.4 which she(we) will use from time to time, but the lens that gets the most usage for portraits is our 18-70mm. Hope this helps

If the D90 is in your budget, I'd buy it over the D5000. Also, go with a general purpose zoom until you figure out what will suit you best...The 18-105 kit lens would be fine to start with.

D90 is the better choice as it could use the older Nikon AF lenses while the D5000 is crippled with AF functioning only for the newer AF-S type lenses. The standard 18-55mm is a dime a dozen, so the logical expansion is the 55-200mm VR zoom which is quite a good performing lens when coupled with the D90's higher ISO sensitivity.
Cheers!
