Question Nikon D5000

I currently have a Kodak Z650 and want to upgrade. I am looking at the Nikon D5000. Does anyone have this camera or have suggestions? I know I want to have image stabilization (which the Kodak does not have), take clear, detailed photos, as I will be taking photos of my jewelry and take close-ups, and just need a good camera that I can purchase other lenses for. I have a budget of $800.00 or so to spend.

I would appreciate your input.

Thanks!

Susan

Default Nikon D5000

I don't know what the price is in the US but I spent approx. $1300 for the camera, two lenses, spare battery and memory card...I think your budget will be close as prices are dramatically lower in the US.

It has all the bells and whistles plus a unique screen that you can rotate which is great for low and high shots. Extensive menus on the camera and a lot of help items.

I am still experimenting with the features and have shot hundreds of photos and the camera did it's job.....

The D5000 is a very nice camera, I have one along with a D90 and D300. It can give you the same image quality as the two others as it uses the same sensor. It does not have all the bells and whistles but is a great camera. Go to Nikon's web site and take a look at the matrix where they compare features for each camera.

Where di you buy your camera?

Henrys: D5000 + 18-55VR: $799.99
Vistek: D5000 + 18-55VR: $799.99
Black's: D5000 + 18-55VR: $849.99

Henry's has the 18-55 and 55-200 kits for just over 1100.

I bought mine at HH Greg just before Christmas. The complete camera kit plus an addon of case and 55-200 zoom was 799 US I believe. The zoom does not have the image stabilization which is a function of the lens and not the camera.
