Default Issues with 50mm f1.8 Nikon Focus

I have been having weird issues with the 50mm F1.8 autofocus as of late. Even in well lit conditions it seems to act funny. It focuses on the shots in the background rather than the things in the foreground. Even not shooting at 1.8, shooting more at 3-6 apertures I still get really blurry shots when they shouldn't be.

Any settings I need to check? I'll post them up as you ask for them.

Hey KT...
Can you manually choose your point of focus on your camera?
On my Canon... If the auto focus is not choosing the right focus point (with my 50mm 1.8)
I can choose it manually. That's what helps me acheive the focus location I want.

Hope that helps

I recently got this very lens and have been using it for the last couple of weeks. I have noticed it's quite sensitive in what it focuses on. If you're selecting a certain focus point and you're a little off, you'll miss the shot. You have to be extra careful with it. Once you get used to it the lens does quite well.

The issue has been killing me with portraits... Even if my subject takes up a good 70% of the frame, it will focus behind them. No idea why!

If the camera has multiple focus points, I'd agree with picnic, make sure it's picking the right one. In any case, you should try a focus test like the one described at Focus Testing - photo.net
