Hi Fletch,
I'm still learning about what works and why, I only recently came across the rule of thirds as a conscious thing I should consider in my shots, rather than some dimly remembered thing about art crit! I mostly mention it in critiques to people who may not be aware of it or may not have considered it in cropping that shot. I should get round to reviewing some of my old pix taken before I was aware of it and see whether they use it unconsciously or would benefit from a crop, or indeed work despite breaking the rules! I like symmetry too, like reflections and tree portraits, which often break the rule of thirds.
Soon I'll get round to posting more of my own pix for critique rather than just commenting on other people's!
