Default Close-Up filters for macro shots

hi

i am not getting very fine details with my D90+NIKKOR MACRO 105mm. Do I need close-up filters, if yes, than of what number. Adorama Camera have +1 +2 +3 +4. what is the difference between these number....what magnification each number reflect.

ideally, i want to focus 1cmx1cm and NOKKOR 105mm only goes for 2.25cmx2.25cm sharp focus.

pls guide.

Hi,

I got a 55mm set of 4 (+1 +2 +4 +10) from ebay for around £15

I find I use the +10 90% of the time

Hope this helps

Have you now got a set of close-up filters? It looks like that from the gear list in your signature, in which case the best answer is "try it and see".

Also, what is the poll for? It seems very unrelated to the question.

I don't see why would you need close up filters for full macro lens (such as Nikon 105mm f/2.8 Micro VR). Macro lens should give you a full detail of the things at 1:1 focus. As far as I know close up filters are used for ordinary, non macro lens.
