Sometimes flowers just don't tell the tale when it comes to macro, so I lucked out and happened upon a bee that had passed on (RIP). It gave me a chance to get a controlled setup to compare a few things. Lets first take a long at the true 1:1 macro lens.
The sigma 50mm DG 2.8: Reversed Sigma 18-50mm DC 3.5-5: Tamron 28-300mm 3.5-5.6 with a 50mm Canon 1.8 stacked in front reversed for 6:1: If you click through you can actually blow up the images to make out the different lenses of the bee's eye. Fairly impressive for some stacked camera lenses. I think this still tells an interesting tale of very razor thin dof, uncontrollable aperture, but overall interesting photography.
