Default Extension Tube - Sample Pics?

Im not sure if this is the correct area to post this question in or not, so feel free to move it mods, with my appologies!

I have found a nice set of 3 extension tube rings that I can stack together that I would like to use with my Canon XTi in order to get more of a macro shot out of my two current lenses. However before I went this route, I would like to know if there is a way anyone who reads this who has actually USED them in the past, could post a link to some photos they have taken with it - vs. the actual Macro lens.
Basically, I do SOME macro, but I dont believe enough to justify the $400 to buy an actual macro. But then again, I dont want to spend for extension tubes, to regret it and then replace out with macro because "it just wasnt what I thought."
Thanks in advance to any who can tell me what they liked/disliked about the tubes and share some photos!

if it is the cheap 10 -20 dollar set off ebay then go for it.....nothing more than some plastic tubes but really work well...I have a few in a set on my flickr page used with a 50mm f1.8 and i think its well worth the price although in darker conditions you'll need a flash. I use the sb-600 and works great. I bought them with the same reasoning you have....not sure I need to spend that much on a macro lens when i really dont do a whole heck of alot.....

I'm interested as well. I've got the Xti, and I'm more willing to spend a bit of money rather than a lump of money. I love macro, but the macro is a bit much for now.

well 20 bucks shipped will get you some nice close up shots.....toothbrush Closeup
Dimeback

one thing is very narrow DOF with all three stacked. But using just or or two in any combination really works pretty good.....

Which camera do you have? The XTi also? I was just wondering which set you bought and if'd fit mine, I am still learning the equipment and all, so I dont' wanna buy something that won't fit.

(Not trying to steal your thread) just curious as well.

Great. Yeh, I have been eye balling them, but hesitant, cause I'm not sure what is what and what is best, even at the price. And extensions, screw on the camera and then the lens on the extension? Or do I have that backwards?

the tubes go on camera like a lens then the lens on the tubes....just like you said.
Really fun and if you spend some time you can probably get some really great creative shots....im just not a real macro kind of guy....

I spend alot of time at home alone. I dont do alot of running around, we live in VA. Not from here, and the Navy keeps my husband busy alot. So I carry my camera to the mailbox and get alot of shots. Most of my shots on my myspace page, are from yard. Haha.. So it's a pass time for me.
