Default Vacuum Tubes

First off, I dont know for sure if this is close/cropped enough to be considered a macro. If not, my bad.

3 out of 4 tubes from my guitar amp. 2 recent production, one vintage.
Slight contrast boost, B&W and tone shifted a little bit IIRC.

Nikon D60 35mm 1.8
f/2
1/10th sec
ISO 100
No flash

I'm looking for any input you may have.

What does the color look like in the origional? This appears like it could be one of those shots that "looks" B&W, even when it is in color. I kind of like the look of photos like that.

It also appears like you focused just in front of the tubes, but overall I like ths shot. Beware of reflections when shooting items like this. Sometimes they really add to a shot, and other times they can ruin it.

Yeah, I get the feeling that I should have closed down the f stop at least 1 more step, just for a little longer dof.

Here's an attachment of the color one.

nice bnw photo, good tones. seems to be a slanting a bit to the left.. I wouldnt mind the shallow dof because it seems quite nice to me. The tube is the focus of this shot anyway.

Very cool! I like the desaturated one myself! Is one of those tubes out of the reverb circuit? I don't believe I have ever seen two different sized output tubes out of the same amp.

Respectively, they are a 6V6GT, a 5Y3GT rectifier, and a 12AX7. The amp is pre solid state rectification. It does have another 12AX7 for a vibrato circuit that works by altering the bias of the 6V6.

Haha. sorry, got a little technical there.

It's all good! I like technical! Even when I don't understand it! For some reason, it's how I learn.

If you're interested in how these fancy little lightbulbs work, this is a good read.
