I am dying for a DSLR. But have to wait a few more months. So until then I am playing around with my point and shoot. I shot this in macro mode. Very close. I like the shot. But then again I am no expert. I don't even know what to ask you to critque. Any feedback is welcomed. Thank you.

the main issue I see is that the background isn't blurred enough - looks a bit messy and distracting in the background. Try for a clearer background even if you have to put a piece of card behind the flower. Also did you try other angles? - sometimes over the top is not the best angle - although I have taken lots of those myself, I am now am trying other angles. Someone said recently there are heaps of flower shots out there, to make yours stand out you have to try something a little different.

Good luck with the macro - I love it too and am using the super macro setting on my Canon PowerShot. Takes great macros.

My wife walked by the computer while I was looking at this and remarked that it looked like the ball drop in NY on New Years Eve. I really like the dandelion itself, but the background is a bit busy. Take the background more out of focus, bump up the shadows to make the flower pop more, or anything else to make the flower stand out a bit more.

I'll have to agree about the background. But it is definately a nice macro shot for a point and shoot. I've done alot of macro work with point and shoots, and its not as easy as it looks.
