Default Chilli

I bought myself an extension tube macro ring, popped it on my Canon 450D and took this picture of a chilli, to be honest I have no idea what i'm doing (as you can prob tell), I think it's ok'ish??!! I used a tripod and the remote control to take the picture, I really want to get outside with it but at the moment it's far too windy!!

Hope you like it, thanks for looking,

Sarah

Very nice - another option would be to take a pic of the inside and pips ?

Nice shot and great colour. You are on the right track. I would have liked to have seen the top of the chilli in focus too.

You have already discovered the biggest challenge with extension tubes: getting enough light. By extending the lens away from the camera you lose a lot of light, which forces you to open up your aperture, which in turn gives you very shallow depth of field. Too bad, because you have some really good things going for you here; the colors and textures are really nice.
If you have a minute, check out Edward Weston. He did a whole series of b&w images of peppers that are considered classics.
