Default extenion tubes for Cannon xti OES

I dont know if this is in the right place.. but I cant seem to find extention tubes for my lens that go with the xti... I have the 18-55mm EFS that came with the camera....
I called B & H and they said the Kenko set wouldn't fit my lens that i would have to get a macro lens. the macros are alittle more money than I can spend at this time... they said the extentions for the EFS hasnt come out yet....... sooooo whats my next choice? wait or hopefully i might find a used macro or tubes..

You may need to shop online for what you need but they are out there.

That's bizarre...I just bought the Kenko set and they seem to fit my Xti just fine!

I believe they've been EF-S compatible for a few years now. I would have thought it unlikely that there would be many of the old ones still for sale new.

Either way the extension tubes will always fit on your body but an EF-S lens may not fit on the tubes. For example my tubes are old and I can't fit my EF-S 17-85mm to them but I can fit all my EF lenses to them on any EOS body.

.....here's a random thought....you could probably stick a EF-S lens on a 5D if you use extension tubes. Not sure anywbody would really want to do that but it should work

Extention tubes are simply hollow rings . as long as the mount is the correct one for Canon EF camera bodies ( that amonts to all of them Xt to the pro) they will fit any canon EF mount lens. What may not work is electronic focus but for Macro work you are going to be using manual most ofthe time. Zooms may not be the best thing for macro work but that does not exclude them. The kenko tubes are fine and a lot less expensive than the canon. If you are planning on using the full set it helps to use a tripod ring mount as it will give better balance and less chance of wobble from the added length and connections. Don't forget to get a cable release that will improve you chances of reducing camera movement during shutter release.

thanks.. i did order the Kenko set from B & H.. I called them back and they said it would fit my nifty fifty lens... I will see how they work out... I really am more interested in taking the macro pictures, flowers, bugs, and dogs than anything else... I dont seem to have a good lens for the landscape pictures... but as a newby I am still trying to learn lots of stuff....
