A new species of springtail...
I found this in my back garden yesterday afternoon:
 We're not sure if it's a completely new species or one that has made all the way from New Zealand to Scotland (see comments from Frans on Flickr). Either way it's new to me and new to Scotland. Thought I'd post this down here as I'm sure many other macro photographers dream of finding something new and I was literally on my back door step when I took this!!! The springtail above is around 1.5mm long - shot at 5x lifesize on a 40D using a MP-E 65mm and MT-24ex macro twin-flash. Happy hunting
