I am looking at two Nikkor macro lenses; one is a Nikon AF-S 60 mm F/2.8G ED, the other one isAF-S 105 mm VR F/2.8 IF-ED. There is a $ 300 difference. Other than VR, which I prefer especially for macro, is there anyone who has one of these lenses? Is it worth the extra $ 300?

I own the 105 mm micro, and absolutely love it. It is by far my favorite lens. For true macro work, you'll almost certainly be using a tripod, so the VR isn't going to be as useful as you might think. Howvever, if you like to get in really close the105 is going to give you a lot more room to work which can be especially useful when shooting bugs that are easilly frightened.

Have both & they are great lense.
To choose between the two is only a matter of taste and your way of looking/working at the subject. But the VR has its advantages...did experienced it last spring taking butterflies pictures handheld in natural light. Botanical Garden - a set on Flickr
