Default Mousetrap

Strange what one may find in the woods. There wasn't much attached to the foot and it was going funky. Bird of prey preyed upon:

This is great Jiminy. Very effective - more than a macro

The best photograph is the one imposing the questions and not necessarily providing the answers.

Has an interesting abstract quality to it. Beautiful detail.

sana, Welcome welcome welcome back

It's good to hear from you again, hope all is well with you. My frustrated painter comes out when I shoot, and especially when I edit. Lately, as I get closer shots, the editting needed is less and less. Our eyes are missing some rich sights. Unfortunate that it's a postmortem shot, but probably impossibly difficult otherwise. Again, good to see your return and I'm glad you enjoyed the photo.

Saralonde,

Jinx! Thanks for this, and so many other comments I may not have yet responded to.

Saralonde,

Thanks. Continually fascinated by details; first thought was "The last thing Mickey saw . . ." but this was shorter.

I love the detail and slight abstract feel. It almost feels alien - I wouldn't have known what it was had you not told us. Great lighting as well, was it natural?

aadam_21,

Found this in the side yard of a school, next to a tree, maybe dropped by whatever ate it. Picked it up with gloved hand, manipulated individual joints (rigor mortis had set in) in the sunlight and shot four times (Flickr). The pads were incredible, green and dotted with almost suckerlike disks. That did not focus well, which tempts me to return.

Yes, natural sunlight, 99.9% of all mine are such.

I love the title, Not quite what I was expecting

The detail is excellent and the composition leaves the viewer wondering what is off to the right side.

Thanks!
Jim

jsklinger, Thanks

The "plates of armor" look really surprised me. Off to the right is my hand manipulating the talons. It was all quite stiff, a leg dead for some time. Still worth it, I believe.
