You could have a look through the 1,800 or so pictures taken with that lens and posted to the Nikkor group pool on Flickr (or all appropriately tagged images - getting on for 8,000).

I have used that strategy myself in the past for lens shopping. I feel that looking at what people have done with the lens is sometimes better than just reading the opinions of those who love or hate it enough to write a review.

3 lenses should be more than enough to keep you going for a bit (in fact, you've got the same basic set up as me ). After all, you can only use one at a time...

yeah I know I havnt changed it to show the 55-200mm VR too. so its actually 4 lenses counting the 18-55mm kit lens. Im sure thats enough especially since i dont get a cahnce to shoot that often. Much rather get my sb-600 and bigger bag to hold it all.
Wulf have you looked into the battery grip for your camera? I love mine feels more substantial in my large hands and plus the thing never dies!

I've had no problems with the battery running out (plus the present set up fits neatly in my bag) so I haven't considered a battery grip yet.

I bought it purely for the size cause my hands are so big....but really love that i never see a battery drain at all.....

I am also buying one in early December. In regard to how many lenses, I'd say the following is a full kit:

12-24 f/4
17-55 f/2.8
24-70 f/2.8
70-200 f/2.8
200-400 f/4
50 f/1.4
85 f/1.8
105 f/2.8 Micro

Practically, a 17-55, 70-200 (or 80-200) a macro lens, and a prime or two should do fine. That list was basically covering everything anyone other than a pro wildlife shooter would want.

Just buy another body, then you can use two. Simple, cost effective solution.
