Default Another fruit fly

This one happened quite by accident. I was shooting something else with my macro lens (actually, I was trying to capture bubbles my daughter was blowing as a test of my manual focusing skills) when this guy alighted next to me. Couldn't resist it, so I switched to full macro mode and shot this one:

Fruit Fly

He was barely there for a second, so didn't have much time to adjust the settings. I did some PP to bring out the features a bit more, mainly used the beach technique since the background was nearly uniform and I thought it made the subject stand out more.

EXIF:

Shutter: 1/125 sec.
Aperture: f/8.0
Exposure: 0.0 EV
ISO speed: 200

What do you people think?

You have one heck of a glass and a great timing for macro opportunities!
This one is shocking. If it wasn't a fly (which reminds me the annoying zzzzzzzz zzzzzzzz zzzzzzzz) I would say is beautiful. The PP treatment woks very well and I has a nice DoF and an amazing level of detail and clarity.

Thanks, flavio. Yeah, that Tamron 90mm is one heck of a glass indeed. When I get the focus right, it produces images so sharp that you can cut your fingers on it! Unfortunately it doesn't auto-focus on my D40 so it is a kind of hit and miss affair most of the time.

I am a little disappointed that I couldn't get more of the fly in focus even at f/8, but as I mentioned he was hardly there for a second so I didn't have much time to lower the aperture further.
