Default Reverse mount adapter for Canon Rebel XT

I'm hoping that someone can answer my question. I'm trying to find a macro reverse mount adapter for my Canon Rebel XT. My friend found a 52mm for her Nikon that works, but we cannot find one for the Canon. Does anyone know what size I would need and where I could purchase one? I did find one on Ebay that is a 52mm, but will this fit on my 50mm 1.8 and then on my body? I'm confused, because my friend's Nikon 52mm adapter ring fits on my Nifty Fifty, but then the opening on my Canon body is larger than the opening on her Nikon body, so it doesn't fit.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

Shelley

Check the inside of your lens cap it will tell you what size. Then find one in that size which fits a canon body. Also if you cannot find one the right size you can use adapter rings.

Where to find one, I do not know, but my first suggestion is e-bay

Fotodiox makes 52mm and 58mm macro reverse mount rings for EOS and I think you can also find them on Amazon. You could also mount a reversed lens in front of a regular lens using macro coupling rings from Adorama for about $9 apiece, and there are step-up and step-down rings for different filter thread sizes.

Decide which lens you wish to reverse and find the filter size. BTW, your 50 f/1.8 is 52mm.

To find one, you can try Amazon.com: Fotodiox 52mm Reverse Mount Adapter for Canon EOS 1d,1ds,Mark II, III, 5D, 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D, Rebel xt, xti, xs, xsi 300D, 350D, 400D, 450D: Camera & Photo or google 'canon eos reverse adapter 52mm'.

Any good at Do-it-yourself? You will need a canon body cap, and a filter ring to fit your lens' filter thread.(an old useless uv filter will do)-knock out the glass and using epoxy adhesive,("Araldite") Glue the filter ring to the front of the body cap, threads outermost. leave to set for 24 hrs. when set,cut hole out of bodycap to same size as inside of filter ring. Attach bodycap/filter ring combination to camera body-screw reversed lens onto filter-ring thread-"Voila!"-Macro lens! Regards, Ken
