Arrow Introducing Mr. Green Leaf

This great bug which looks much like a leaf wandered into my house the other day. I put him in a wooden bowl and the sides were almost too slippery for him to crawl out, so I had plenty of time to take shots. Here are a couple of my favorites:

I used my SB-600 as a slave with my D80 in commander mode for the lighting. Hope I didn't blind the poor guy! C&C always welcome.

I like the first shot better as there is no serious flash reflection - just a catch light. It looks more naturally lit to me. The second shot is nice, but the bit of flash reflection on his "leaf" is a little bothersome. These critters are interesting and you did a good job catching it.

I'm guessing this was with the 105mm macro listed in your sig? I've really got to a get a macro lens soon.

I too like the first on better. I always thought the point of shooting macro was so that you might see thigns that you wouldnt normally see with a naked eye. The first picture reflects that wonderfully

Aadam -- Now that you mention it, the flash refelction off his wing does sort of bug me (pun intended). I have several of these taken in RAW, maybe I can work on this one or another. Yes, this was taken handheld with my beloved 105 macro. One of many things that I love about macro is the ability to make an intersting photo from almost any setting or any subject. It's a great big tiny world out there and I'm frequently surprised by what the lens finds. Thanks for your comments.
