Default Common Darter (Dragonfly)

This is my favourite 'wildlife' shot. Not a true macro I know, really just a close up. I took this not long after I got my Nikon D40 using the standard kit lens 18~55 zoom. The only thing that spoils it for me is the large reflection of the sun on its eye but I am quite pleased with it.

Unfortunately, they tend to be a bit unpredictable when it comes to sitting around waiting for you to set up the perfect shot; this one is great and, if you felt so inclined, you could probably tone the reflection down a bit in post-processing.

I really like the wide angle view by the way. Good shot.

Thanks Wulf. I did try to edit the reflection but it always looked worse so I decided to leave well alone. I have also realised that this was not set as public on Flickr so you may not have been able to see the larger version, only just getting the hang of Flickr. Yes, the panorama format shows it off the best as all there was below it was the rest of the gravestone it was perched on. As always, your comments are appreciated
