well, i can't see your shots but I have just tried a few water drop shots as well.
![]() A few pointers: 1. Water is a specular (reflective) object. In order to light it well, you need to light what it will be reflecting. So hit the background with your flash, not the water. 2. Use a colored background and another color above for added depth. 3. If you don't have colored backgrounds, you can use a gel on your flash, or if you don't have gels, you can shoot in tungsten WB mode to make the water appear blue. 4. read/watch this

Resurrecting this post since I was going to post a "how I shot this" with a link to Strobist but I wanted to see if someone else did it already.
I saw how to do it on strobist before I saw this post and gave it a shot with an off camera flash and such. It came out great! And I just tweaked the white balance in post to get some moody colors like this one! ![]() If you go to http://www.timarai.com/blog/2009/07/...-8pm-07032009/ and go down to the last photo, it's a "behind the scenes" that shows you my setup too. Pretty neat
